What is the legal name of the Capuchin Mid-America Province?
Capuchin Province of Mid-America, Inc.  Federal Tax ID: 43-1112467.

Who is the Province’s partner for vehicle donations?
Vehicles for Charity (VFC) www.vehiclesforcharity.org

Who is VFC?
VFC is a Colorado non-profit that administers a turnkey vehicle donation program for other non-profits.  Over 350 non-profits nationwide use VFC and over 27,000 donated vehicles have been processed through the program.

How does the program work?
Donors contact VFC using the toll free number above or by using the online donation form.  VFC verifies all information, dispatches a tow truck and processes the necessary documentation for each donation.  The towing company will call donors directly to schedule the pick up.  At the time of pick up, the driver will provide a receipt for taking the vehicle.  Please have the keys and appropriately signed title ready for the driver.

What types of vehicles are accepted?
VFC accepts cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, dirt bikes, boats, recreational vehicles, campers, tractors and trailers!

What does a donor need before they make a donation?
Three things are needed:  (1) A clear title, which means a title with the donor’s name listed in the owner's section, without an assignment or transfer to another person. All liens must be released prior to donating the vehicle.  (2) Car keys.  (3) When contacting VFC either over the phone or online, please have the title and current mileage in hand.

What is the number to call to make a donation?
Please call 866.628.CARS (2277).  Or, in the Denver area, call 303.308.2400

How does a donor process an online vehicle donation?
Vehicle donations can be made online be accessing VFC’s charity listing at www.vehiclesforcharity.org/CharityList2.php?State=All.  Then, select the state of Colorado and scroll through the alphabetical list to find the Capuchin Province of Mid-America and select ‘Donate Now’.  The direct link for the Capuchin Province of Mid-America is
www.vehiclesforcharity.org/Donatefrm.php?OrgId=499&Orgstate=CO

Is there a towing fee?
No, there is no charge to the donor for towing.

How long will it take for my vehicle to be picked up?
Typically, vehicles will be picked up within 2-4 business days.  The towing company will contact the donor directly to schedule the pick up.

What is done with donated vehicles?
The vehicles are taken to an auction and sold to the highest bidder.  Occasionally, some vehicles are sold to salvage.

Does a donor receive a tax writeoff?
Yes!  If the donor plans to deduct over $500, they will be allowed a deduction in the amount of the gross selling price of the vehicle.  A packet will be mailed to the donor within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle regarding the required IRS information needed.  Or, a donor may choose to take a deduction under $500 without written acknowledgment.  IRS GUIDELINES WILL NOT AFFECT THE AMOUNT YOUR CHARITY RECEIVES FOR YOUR DONATION.

Where can a donor find general guidelines regarding vehicle donation?
Through the Publication 4303, the IRS and state charity officials provide general guidelines for individuals who donate a vehicle.  You can access the publication at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p4303.pdf.  You may also access IRS Form 8283 at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8283.pdf

What is the tax benefit amount for the donor?
Please visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov for more information.
What documents do donors receive after making a vehicle donation?  Each donor will receive a thank you/acknowledgement letter and all required IRS tax forms within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle.
